This issue of the Annual is dedicated to the sesquicentennial anniversary of the outstanding Russian historian E. A. Tarlé (1874–1955), who, in particular, made a huge contribution to the development of national French studies. As the main topics of the issue, the editorial board chose two of the many subjects that this remarkable researcher has been developing throughout his life: mass popular movements and a man at war. The section "Historiography. Sources" contains publications of new historical documents and articles about the study of French history in various countries of the world, about researchers of such subjects and their latest works.
