Medieval Studies as modus vivendi. Reflections on the book: The Historian and Society of the Medieval West. In memory of Professor Nina Alexandrovna Khachaturian

Shishkin Vladimir

The essay is dedicated to the book in honor of Nina A. Khachaturian, a well-known historian-medievalist and specialist in French studies, published in 2021 under the editorship of Sergey E. Fedorov and Susanna K. Tsaturova in the St. Petersburg publishing house «Aleteya». It is noted that the authors-compilers paid special attention to the structure of the publication, which includes seventeen of the most significant articles of the scientist, reflecting her scientific search for several decades. Placed in four headings, these articles concern both specific historical issues of the Western European Middle Ages, the history of royal courts and the history of European medieval power institutions, and represent Nina A. Khachaturian's historical, philosophical and methodological reflections on the current problems of modern medieval studies. The book also contains research articles and memoirs of her colleagues and students, reflecting various stages of the historian's professional and private life.
