The article is an attempt to analyze the first publications that appeared in the Russian capital's newspapers and magazines during the summer of 1821 and highlighted the details of the death of Napoleon Bonaparte and the events directly connected with it. Due to the fact that the prevailing part of the published material was a translation of articles previously published in the European press, namely English, French and German ones, the corresponding details answered, first of all, the requests of European readers and did not indicate a significant interest in the incident of Russians elites and Russian society as a whole.
