This issue of the Annual is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding Russian historian Boris Fedorovich Porshnev (1905-1972). The first section contains the memories of people who knew this researcher, and articles on his rich and contradictory heritage. The authors of the second part analyze the problems of the French absolutism history, the subject which had held the central place in Porshnev’s researches.
