The author of the review analyzes the book of historians A.A. Mitrofanov, N.V. Promyslov and E.A. Prusskaya, dedicated to the theme of Russia’s representation in the French press during a difficult relationship between the two countries. The authors of the monograph image the mechanisms of the press in conditions of military and political shocks, focus on the changes that have taken place in the printing industry, demonstrate the difference in publications during periods of enmity and peace, and answer questions about the influence of stereotypes and cliches on the formation of Russia’s image.
