In the focus of the article is the analysis of the book of the famous French historian-Marxist, classic of French historiography Michel Vovelle, “The Battle for the Bicentennial of the French Revolution”. The article considers the opinion of M. Vovelle on the main stages of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Revolution in France and around the world. The author notes that the book of Vovelle is both a book on the historiography of the French Revolution and at the same time a memoir, a deeply personal view of the epic of the commemorations of the French Revolution.
