The article is devoted to the history of the largest and longest episode of armed resistance of Egyptians towards the French occupation in 1798-1801. The Author used a wide range of sources, including the publication of the French official documents, memories of participants of events, Arab Chronicles and archival materials, to analyze the mechanism of the transition of mass discontent of the Egyptians in violent acts and then into organized forms of the armed struggle. Chronicle of the origin, development and suppression of the uprising is presented day by day through a cross-comparison of evidences from both sides of the conflict.
