   The purpose of the article is to explore issues related with the position of France in the years of the Eastern crisis 1839 to 1841, on materials of the diplomatic correspondence of the French Ambassador in the Russian Empire in 1835-1841, Baron P. de Barante. French policy in the East is considered in the context of the «European concert» and challenging the Franco-Russian relations in the years of the July monarchy.
