This issue of the Annual is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding Russian researcher of the French history Victor Moiseevitch Dalin (1902-1985). The authors of articles continue the discussion on problems which his recent book «Historians of France XIX-XX centuries» was devoted to. They talk about the influence of researcher’s personality, his human qualities, social environment, and individual life experience on his reconstruction of a picture of the past. By analyzing of the various aspects of biographies of some eminent Russian and French historians they demonstrate the specificity of the French history studies in Russia and France.
