The Problem of the seigniorial rights at the beginning of the French Revolution: The Law of the May 3, 1790

   The article deals with the law of May 3, 1790  which determinated  the amount of peasant payments for redeemed seigniorial rights  , its practical implementation and the attitude of the rural community to it. Considerable differences between wishes expressed by peasants and the agrarian legislation of the Constituent Assembly contributed to undermining liberal political regime established by the Constitution of 1791.
